Protect your identity.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes today.  If your identity is stolen it can ruin your life and take years to get everything corrected.  Here are some simple things that you can do to protect your identity.

1.  Don't put your social security number on your checks.
2.  Ask that an alternative number be on your driver's license than your social security number.
3.  Be sure to check your credit report at least every six months.  There are three main credit reporting agencies.  They are:

Equifax
http://www.equifax.com

Experian
http://www.experian.com

TransUnion
http://www.tuc.com

Request your credit report from each of the agencies.  There can be different things on each of the credit reports.  Make sure to let the credit reporting agency know of anything that is in error.  Having a correct credit report is extremely important.
